Kristian Bush and his latest love may no longer be together in his new song, "Sing Along," but he hopes he's left her with a song in her heart. The infectious, mid-tempo track wasn't planned for official release until January, but after DJ Bobby Bones played a leaked version on Monday, the positive response led his label to rush release the song. Bush wrote "Sing Along" with guitarist/producer Andrew DeRoberts, who played on Bush's 2015 solo debut Southern Gravity. The Sugarland member recorded the song, his first new music since signing to Wheelhouse Records, in April at Nashville's Omni Sound. The surprise release comes during a busy time for Bush, who was one of the celebrities answering phones Tuesday during Dolly Parton's Smoky Mountains Rise: A Benefit for the My People Fund, her star-studded telethon that raised more than $9 million to aid victims of November's wildfires that ravaged parts of east Tennessee. Additionally, Bush and playwright Janece Shaffer have collaborated on the new musical Troubadour, a play set in the Fifties about two generations of country artists as the style transitions from "white shirts and black ties into sequins and rhinestones," Bush told The Tennessean earlier this year. The play opens in Atlanta in 2017 and will star Radney Foster.

Song Lyrics:

You always laughed when you stole my shirt
Dancin' around and you made it
Looked like you was worth a million bucks

Spinnin' like records, the two of us
Remember those nights that we couldn't sleep
Kids shootin fireworks off in the street
Baby, you're still that girl to me

I hope my love song's bouncin' around your heart
And echoin' in your head
Just like we're at the start
Rememberin' what we said in the end it doesn't matter
Who was right and who was wrong
So when you think about me, girl
I hope you sing along like
(Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, Oh, oh, oh, oh, Oh, oh, oh, oh)

You knew every song on the radio
And how in the world did we ever go
All the way through that bottle of wine
Baby, we could really lose track of time
The best part of me was always you
Like a sunset fading from red to blue
And when i see it i still think of you

I hope my love song's bouncin' around your heart
And echoin' in your head
Just like we're at the start
Rememberin' what we said in the end it doesn't matter
Who was right and who was wrong
When you think about me, girl
I hope you sing along like
(Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, Oh, oh, oh, oh, Oh, oh, oh, oh)

I hope my love song's bouncin' around your heart
And echoin' in your head
Just like we're at the start
Rememberin' what we said and we both made our own mistakes
Now we know just how lovers break apart

I hope my love song's bouncin' around your heart
And echoin' in your head
Just like we're at the start
Rememberin' what we said in the end it doesn't matter
Who was right and who was wrong
So when you think about me, girl
I hope you sing along like
(Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, Oh, oh, oh, oh, Oh, oh, oh, oh)
(Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, Oh, oh, oh, oh, Oh, oh)
I hope
